Sacredness of Life at the Time of Corona Virus + Prayers for Corona Virus

Speaker: Imam Farooq Aboelzahab

  • SUPPLICATION FOR CORONAVIRUS
  • Composed by Imam Farooq Aboelzahab

None of you should wish for death because of a calamity befalling him; but if he has to, he should say: “O Allah! Keep me alive as long as life is better for me, and let me die if death is better for me. “

Treat sickness, for Allah has not created any disease except He has also created the cure, except for one disease… Old age.” No fatigue, illness, anxiety, sorrow, harm or sadness afflicts any believer, even to the extent of a thorn pricking him, except by which Allah wipes out his mistakes.

And your Lord hath said: Pray unto Me and I will hear your prayer. 40:60

If only, when Our disaster came onto them, they had been humble! But their hearts were hardened and the devil made all that they used to do seem fair unto them! 6:43

Is not He (best) Who answers the wronged one when he cries unto Him and removes the evil, 27:62

And We send down of the Quran that which is a healing and a mercy to those who believe… 17:82

My Lord Truly distress has seized me, but You are Most Merciful of those that are merciful.  21:83–84

And (remember) Dha´n-Noon (Jonah of the whale), when he went away in anger and imagined We will not test him (with distress). Then he called out from the darkness: “There is no god other than You. All glory to You; surely, I was a sinner.” 21:87

And if Allah touches you with harm, none can remove it but He, and if He touches you with good, then He is Able to do all things” 6:17

Allah, give us a share of reverence of You that will come between us and disobeying You; and a share of obedience to You which will cause us to obtain Your Paradise; and a share of certainty which shall make the calamities of the world easy for us; and grant us the enjoyment of our hearing, and our seeing and our strength as long as You keep us alive, and make it the inheritor of us. and do not make our calamity in our religion, and do not make this world our greatest concern nor the limit of our knowledge.

O Allah! Indeed, we are Your servants; children of Your male servants and female servants, our forelock is in Your Hand. You have control over us. Your judgment upon us is assured, and Your Decree upon us is just.

We ask you with every name that You have named Yourself with,
Or revealed in Your Book (Quran), or taught to any of Your creation,
Or kept with Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen that is with You,
That You make the Quran the life of our hearts, and the light of our chests, and the cure of our sadness and the reliever of our distress.”

O Allah! The Sustainer of Mankind! Remove the illness and cure the disease. You are the One Who cures. There is no cure except Your cure. Grant us a cure that leaves no illness.

We seek protection in the might of Allah and His power from the evil of what we are experiencing and of what we fear.

We ask Allah, the Mighty, the Lord of the Mighty Throne, to cure those effected by the virus.

Allah, we ask You as all praise is Yours. There is no god except You, You are the Bestower, the Originator of the Heavens and Earth, Possessor of Majesty and Honor. You are Al Hayy Al Qayyum, the Living and Sustainer of the world.

O Allah in this time of separation and possible isolation, give us ways and means so we can maintain meaningful connection to others.  Help and guide our scientific community to understand the disease and its gravity, and give them knowledge, wisdom to find a treatment for the Corona virus.

Take care of our vulnerable populations, protect our elderly and those suffering from chronic disease. Provide for the poor, especially those uninsured.

O Allah, heal and help the sick and infected. Sustain their bodies and spirits. Contain the spread of infection.

Our Lord! Do not take us to task if we forget or we make mistakes. Our Lord! And do not lay upon us a burden like that which You laid on those before us. Our Lord! Do not lay on us a burden greater than our ability to bear. And pardon us, and forgive us and have mercy on us. You are our Protector, so help us against the ungodly forces of evil.

Allah, we ask You for forgiveness and well-being in this world and in the Hereafter. Allah, we ask You for forgiveness and well-being in our religion and our worldly affairs. Allah, conceal our faults, calm our fears, and protect us from before and behind us, from our right and our left, and from above us, and we seek refuge in You from being unexpectedly taken from beneath us.

Loving God, Your divine will be for our wholeness and well-being.
We are standing before an uncertain future.

We pray for the collective suffering of our world at this time.
We grieve precious lives lost and vulnerable lives threatened.
We pray for ourselves and our neighbors.

We pray: May love, not fear, health not illness and life not death prevail.
Inspire our leaders to decide and choose wisely, for our common good.
Help us to practice social distancing and reveal to us new and creative ways to come together in spirit and in solidarity. And give us profound trust and faith in you and your Mercy.

Amen
